Going bigtime.

Katy, my sister, and I have created a new Facebook page for Be Good Be Strong which, like this blog, will be dedicated to raising awareness and funds to improve the lives of cancer patients and their families.

Why I Run for Dana-Farber

My older sister, Molly, lost her life to brain cancer in 2008 at the age of 36. My brother, John, succumbed to the same type of cancer at age 32 in 2009. My sister, Mary, died on February 7 of last year from melanoma after 5 years and enduring an incredible amount of treatment. She was only 35 years old. I run for them, to honor their strength and determination. I run to raise funds that will help researchers find a cure because cancer needs to be stopped. Because no family should have to endure this. Running to help raise funds is one thing, it is SOME thing, I can do to help find effective treatments and eventually a cure. It is something I can do when rendered almost helpless by a cruel and devastating disease like cancer.

Be good.Be strong.
